I cannot tell the difference in quality, and I am pretty hard to please when it comes to hygiene. The friendly stuff smells better, especially when it is scented with essential oils. The mainstream fragrances always have a chemical heaviness to them, and they tend to give me a headache. But, thats me. I digress.
Living green is not all that hard and I don’t really understand why people cling to habits that are hurting them and our future. Am I within my rights to take offense at people who obviously are not making any effort at all? It is one thing to drive a car because you cannot afford not to, it is impractical to walk, or you simply have no other choice. But it’s an entirely different matter when you have zero concern for the environment. Extremes notwithstanding, using common sense should be standard and I think it’s time for our standards to step up.
The facts speak for themselves – the environment is not nearly as healthy as it should be. Therefore, we are not as healthy as we should be. Is there a correlation between how screwed up we are and how screwed up the environment is? I’m guessing there is.
But since I believe in positive action, rather than simply criticizing others, I am (among other things) using friendly products to the best of my ability. I invite you to do the same. I invite you to support the companies that are trying to be responsible, even if they profit financially (who doesn’t have bills to pay?)
In fact, here are a few of my favorites:
- Dr Bronner
- Burt’s Bees
- J/a/s/o/n Natural Cosmetics
- Kiss My Face
- Beauty Without Cruelty
- Pure & Basic
- Avalon Organics
You can find all of them here. And you can do a search by brand name. They smell good, they are used the same way as the mainstream counterparts, and are reasonably priced. I promise!
Happy surfing….
